Sunday, August 27, 2017 – Whispering Lake Grove, ADF hosted a Rite of Offering and Druid Moon. As Chief Seer I was away on vacation, however Rev. Amber Ferrebee acted in my stead and took the omen for the rite.
We received Luis, the Rowan which indicated clarity and discernment. Ur, the Heather indicating rebirth. Finally, Phagos, indicating experience and guidance.
Sunday, July 30, 2017 – Whispering Lake Grove, ADF celebrated Lughnassadh, honoring Lugh the Blessed.
When asked for an omen we received: Fearn, the Alder which indicates protection and guidance from our honored guest. We received Ngetal, the Broom which speaks of tools and works that we are currently involved. Finally, we received Dair, the Oak, which indicates strength. I interpreted this to mean that as Lugh influences us with a gift of strength to use the tools we have to accomplish the tasks at hand, and the guidance needed to further our endeavors. This was deemed a good omen.
During this celebration honoring the Mothers of Blood and Spirit we received the following omen using the Ogham.
Eadheadh: Aspen – Healing and the Homelands, our Ancestors
Tinne: Holly – Justice and Balance, a Reckoning
Coll: Hazel – Wisdom and Intuition
This omen indicates to me that the Mothers hear our words, we have obligations toward the Earth and toward our family. We must be sure to maintain these obligations.
Sunday, April 30th Whispering Lake Grove celebrated Beltaine by honoring the Lord of the Greenwood. We received the following omen:
Beith, the Birch Tree: indicates beginnings.
Ruis, the Elderberry: indicates communication with the Otherworld and the Fae.
Coll, the Hazel: indicates wisdom and intuition.
The impression that I received from this omen was that the Lord of the Greenwood, as well as the Fae, are always willing to impart their wisdom, they want to communicate with us and be a part of our lives, we just need to take the initiative. This was considered a very good omen.
Whispering Lake Grove celebrated Earth Day on Saturday, April 22, 2017. We honored the Earth Mother and applied our energy to helping organizations supporting the Earth and its resources.
The omen was taken by Rev. Christopher Temple and it was as follows: Muin, the Vine, which indicated the binding together of things… Nin, the Ash, which indicated the World Tree and that which connects all things… Tinne, the Holly, which indicated justice and balance.
Taken together I felt that the message the Earth Mother was trying to convey was that we are all in this together. We are all bound to the fate of the Earth. We are not separate from nature, we are all a part of the great ecosystem, and if we are to succeed, we must work together to keep the balance. If not, we are only hurting ourselves.
I deemed the omen a good one.
Whispering Lake Grove honored Frowe, Fro Ing, and Eostre during our Eostre celebration. The omen received was Perthro – The Dice Cup, Hagalaz – The Hail, and Uruz – The Wild Ox. This combination indicates that while the winter seems difficult and long, the long term benefits from the storm far outweigh the inconvenience. It is up to us to decide how we use the potential we have been given. The omen is considered good.
I realize I am making a huge leap of faith that I will be appointed the Chief Seer of Whispering Lake Grove, but I would like to give you a heads up regarding what you will see posted here in the future.
Following each public High Day that Whispering Lake Grove hosts, I will leave the omen here for everyone to find and read for themselves. It will show the actual drawn lots (Runes, Ogham, Tarot, etc.) and a brief description.
Once a year, I will prepare a review of the past year’s omens and any comments that may be appropriate.
